![]() Unpack OFM(EU2023_x_GPS).zip and copy the garmin folder with gmapsupp.img on a (micro) SD-card For easier installation Javawa GMTK is recommended. To put multiple areas on your gps device, rename the file gmapsupp.img (e.g. gmapsupp1.img, ofm_2023w.img) and store the files in the same garmin folder on micro SD card.I find it easier and faster to have the SD card in a SD Card Reader or placed in the card slot of my computer and not in the Nuvi. When MapInstall starts, the first screen will have a Find Device area. Just to the right of the Nuvi listing is a "down arrow".īelow that the Nuvi will be listed, if you have it connected to your computer. Click on the arrow and you should see your SD card listed. Select it and the update will go directly to the card. It can be a bit difficult to direct an update to the SD card if it's installed in the Nuvi as you see the GPS in the Find Device field but can't see that the entry also says +SD card at the end of it unless you click the down arrow mentioned above. Even if you figure that out, it's difficult, at least for me, to figure out how to get the maps on the card instead of going to the Nuvi. I get a box that staes to sd card or to the nuvi and my mac but only the change maps is highlighted and can't change to the sd or mac That's why I always put the card in a reader where the SD card appears as a separate device in the Find Device field. I wanted the new map to install to my SD card on the 1450LMT but it never really gave me a choice that I readily picked up on during the process. It installed the maps in the internal mem and only left me with about 9 megs of mem left. ![]() So I deleted the maps and filled up the internal memory by reinstalling all previously deleted Garmin files and then added more junk files taking up much of the memory. If the program asks to update in the future, tell it NO.I then reran the map updater from Garmin Lifetime Updater, which seems to works fine now, selected all North America and it asked me if I wanted to install the maps to an SD card? I accepted and the maps are now on the card. When choosing "Install Maps" from BaseCamp, MapInstall is what is opened. MapInstall will launch installing, you can then have it load our maps. ![]() Once removed, download and install the previous version of MapInstall, version 4.0.4 using this link: Right Click on MapInstall.exe and choose Delete. Open Local Disk C open Program Files (x86), open Garmin, open MapInstall. If you can't find this item on your desktop, hold the Windows key down and type "E" (windows key is left of your space bar). You can try to uninstall the program through Add/Remove programs first, but in our experience, it must be manually deleted. To fix, we have to manually delete MapInstall (it is installed with BaseCamp). The Macintosh version does not have this issue, only the Windows version. It will also not uninstall correctly (another bug). Version 4.2.0 of MapInstall for Windows, from Garmin, has a bug that prevents it from properly installing maps (only an overview map is sent). ![]() Need Help? Call or Email: (989)-751-6863 or TECH NOTE IS NO LONGER RELEVANT Garmin fixed the bug in versions after 4.2.0.
